Engineer - Wire Harness
Role Overview
The Engineer - Wire Harness is responsible for assembling, routing, and testing electrical wiring harnesses and components according to technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions. This role ensures all electrical assemblies meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain wiring harness charts for various products.
  • Improve / Optimize boards placement, wire harness routing and assembly strategies based on product requirements
  • Read and interpret 2D wiring diagrams, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Cut, strip, crimp, solder, and route wires into harnesses using hand tools and automated equipment.
  • Assemble connectors, terminals, and other electrical components to build harnesses.
  • Inspect harnesses for continuity, proper connections, and compliance with specifications.
  • Label, bundle, and secure wiring according to layout and organizational standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs or rework as necessary.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality control teams for production compliance.
Qualifications
  • B.Tech in electrical or electronics preferred.
  • Experience in EV / Automotive / Robotics industry is mandatory.
  • Hands-on experience with EPLAN (P8 and Harness ProD) for wiring design and documentation.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical assembly or wire harness manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, crimpers, soldering irons, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings, wiring charts and wiring diagrams.
  • Basic understanding of electrical safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and awareness of the IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of wire routing and harness design using CAD software (such as Solidworks), including the ability to revise wiring layouts and schematics digitally.
  • Experience with wire harness design tools and methodologies.
  • Experience in wiring harness inspection using tools like continuity tester / pull force machines to maintain quality.
  • Should be well versed with IEEE color code standards for wiring harness as per application.
  • Understanding of industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving wiring issues efficiently.
  • Effective communication and ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment.
  • Project management and multitasking abilities in a manufacturing setting.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adaptability with evolving technologies and tools.
