Engineer – NPI
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with expertise in mechanical design and proficiency in CAD software. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical systems, components, and assemblies. You will also use CAD tools to create detailed models and drawings, ensuring that designs meet quality, performance, and safety standards.
Role Overview:
The incumbent will be part of the continuous improvement team and will be responsible for the final quality output of our OEM products, upgrading existing products and developing new accessories for the flagship products.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems from concept to final production.
- Perform structural and thermal analysis to optimize designs for functionality, performance, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs into larger systems and products.
- Utilize CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create 2D and 3D models, detailed drawings, and technical specifications for mechanical components and assemblies.
- Ensure that CAD models and drawings adhere to industry standards. Best practices for design, drafting, and dimensioning based on reliable and economical manufacturability.
- Update and modify existing CAD models as required by design changes or improvements.
- Hands on work on prototype building and test mechanical feasibility and prove out
- Ensuring that designs perform as expected as per the organization standards
- Troubleshoot design issues and implement necessary adjustments based on prototype testing results.
- Assist in the selection of appropriate materials for mechanical components, considering factors such as cost, durability, and manufacturing processes.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure components are sourced efficiently and meet quality standards.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and quality of mechanical designs and production processes.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in mechanical design, CAD software, and manufacturing technologies.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design calculations, assembly instructions, and bill of materials (BOM).
- Provide regular status updates and reports on design projects to senior engineers and management.
- Work closely with other engineering teams (electrical, software, etc.) to ensure designs are well-integrated into overall system architectures.
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing, assembly, and quality control phases.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent on a related field.
- Proven experience (4+ years) in mechanical design, engineering, and CAD modelling.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with mechanical analysis, including stress, strain, and thermal simulations, is a plus.
- Knowledge of engineering standards, drafting conventions, and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot design and production issues.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in industries such as automotive, aerospace, robotics, or industrial equipment design.
- Knowledge on PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software and systems will be an added advantage but not mandatory
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools for structural and thermal simulations will be an added advantage but not mandatory
- Familiarity with 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and CNC machining is a plus will be an added advantage but not mandatory
